Perugia Press on YouTube
We’re excited to announce that Perugia Press now has a YouTube channel! This summer, we created a new video project entitled “Readings & Roots: Perugia Poets on Poetic Process.” We’ll be adding content to the series over time, and the goal is to bring Perugia poems, and the process and stories behind them, to life through the voices and ideas of our poets. The first two installments in the series come from Janet E. Aalfs, who performs and discusses her poem “Way of the Crane” from Reach (Perugia, 1999) and Lisbeth White, who reads and discusses her poem “Awakening of Stones: Results” from the just-released American Sycamore (Perugia, 2022):
Through the pandemic, we had the chance to host several stellar virtual readings and events, including a twenty-fifth anniversary celebration for the press:
We also held virtual book launches for our titles Now in Color by Jacqueline Balderrama and Through a Red Place by Rebecca Pelky:
And we held events hosted by Westfield State University marking Women’s History Month (featuring Lynne Thompson, Patricia Smith, and Amina Jordan-Mendez), Hispanic Heritage Month (featuring Jacqueline Balderrama, Francisco Aragón, and Suzi F. Garcia), and Native American Heritage Month (featuring Rebecca Pelky and Gwendolyn Paradice):
Now these, and other videos highlighting the press, can all be found in one spot on YouTube, which you can access any time through the YouTube icon at the bottom of our website. Thanks to the poets, hosts, and guest readers who joined us for these special events and projects, and much gratitude to summer intern Amelia Burton for her work on launching the “Readings & Roots” video project.
