#BirthdayForBreonna

June 5, 2020

As a nonprofit organization committed to amplifying marginalized voices, Perugia Press stands with the Black Lives Matter movement and pledges to actively listen to and support Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC).

We join the voices being raised in opposition to violence against black women in particular. On what would have been Breonna Taylor’s 27th birthday, we echo the call to #SayHerName and to demand justice for Breonna. We denounce police brutality and violence against all BIPOC. We refuse silence and commit to thinking more deeply about what actions we can take as an organization to work against racism and promote justice. Small steps our press took this week were to make donations to support bail funds for protesters in Louisville, where Breonna lived and worked, and to Black Lives Matter. We invite you to do the same if you are able.

In solidarity,
Rebecca Olander, Editor/Director
& the Perugia Press Board of Directors
